ABOUT ZOE HEATHER BENOÎT, PSY.D

Walking with women into the wild terrain of becoming

BEYOND HEALING, INTO BECOMING

Dear wise and wandering soul,

I have a sense that a deeper part of you is longing to be lived. And if so, I'm glad you found your way here.

I work with women who are wise, deeply feeling, and ready for more than a good life. Women who have already done a lot of the work. Who may look steady on the outside, but inside are navigating deep questions, transitions, and a flame (or even an ember) of longing they can no longer ignore.

This is your invitation to fan that flame and let it light the way.

What I offer may feel quite different from therapy as you've come to expect it. I'm not here to fix you, but to help you remember what you already are beneath the noise, the shoulds, and the old stories you've been carrying for too long.

Instead of leaning into what feels wounded, we begin with what's whole. We root ourselves in your gifts, your longings, your aliveness. Only from there can we fully tend to what's wounded and cultivate what you're calling in.

I'll listen deeply and I'll be honest with you. I'll challenge you to grow rather than simply comfort you where you're stuck. I'll walk beside you until you no longer need me to. And I'll be here to walk with you again when a new journey arises.

You are not too much. You are not too late. The path is here, and it begins whenever you're ready.

To the wild journey ahead,

Zoe

The Solid Ground Beneath our Work

Those who most enjoy working with me share my joy and curiosity in:

  • Embodiment

Our bodies hold a special kind of wisdom that goes beyond our thinking minds. I believe that when we fully embrace this aliveness and come home to our bodies, things change. Not only on the inside, but in our relationships, our choices, and our care for this earth.

  • Wholeness

You are not broken or fragmented or lost. You are whole, and this work helps you see that. A full life contains pain and joy, grief and aliveness. We are not here to get rid of the hard parts, but to help you step into your wholeness so you can carry it all.

  • Cultivation

Where we place our attention is what we grow. Our work together is not about setting goals. It is about holding the flame of your longing in conscious awareness and inclining toward what you most want to cultivate. Then we tend to that.

  • Interconnection

We are never in this alone. We are deeply interconnected, and sharing in widening circles supports our growth, healing, and expansion.

  • Truth-Telling

I do this work because I want to invite people to stand in their truth. Moment by moment. I, too, will share my truth. I believe what is most true deserves to be spoken. That is where real transformation begins.

  • Nature's Rhythms

All of life moves in cycles. You arrive, you journey inward, and you come home to yourself. And when life opens up new terrain, as it always does, you return. Each cycle builds on the last. Everything is the path.

The path that led me here

Where it started

I earned my PsyD from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2010, and have been a psychologist for over 15 years. But the truth is, the "training" began long before that. I learned early in life how to speak up for myself, how to find my footing in difficult terrain, how to listen for what was true beneath the noise.

Since then, I've built my toolbox with trauma-informed work, Somatic Therapy, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Hakomi, mindfulness, and more. I've trained with some of the most respected practitioners in the field, and I bring all of this — and my full self — into the room.

Something shifted

A few years ago, I felt something stirring in me trying to get my attention. I didn't know exactly what was changing. I only knew it was time to pause and listen.

I stepped away from my practice for a year — not to leave the work, but to meet it more honestly. To question what I had been taught, revisit what had become automatic, and reimagine how I could serve from a place of greater alignment and embodiment.

I did what I ask of the women I work with. I followed my aliveness. And it led me to Spain.

From pilgrimage to practice

In the fall of 2023, I travelled alone to Spain and walked the Camino de Santiago for 34 days. It was one of the most profound experiences of my life.

The open road opened so much in me. I experienced heartfelt conversations with strangers who felt like kindred spirits. Moments of pure, wild aliveness. And something quiet and true inside myself that I hadn't been able to hear over the noise of ordinary life.

What came from this was the clarity that I had been seeking, and a stronger pull than ever to walk alongside other women through their own seasons of awakening.

My re-emergence

You may have known me in the past as Heather Bradley. But recently I embraced a new name that feels truly mine: Zoe Heather Benoît.

Although this shift had been unfolding over time, it fully claimed me during a Vision Fast with the School of Lost Borders in July 2024. It was in the wilderness that my new name took root and felt fully aligned with who I am becoming. As it often is, it took getting far from ordinary life to hear what was most true.

Zoe (meaning "life" or "aliveness") had been calling to me for a long time, and it finally felt right to listen.

Benoît (pronounced "ben-wah") is my mother's maiden name, chosen to honor my French roots and the reawakening of the feminine lineage in my family. It also means "blessed" which captures how I incline myself to move through this wild life. To feel blessed is not to have escaped the hard things. It is to have found something of beauty in all of life's experiences.

My full name is now Zoe Heather Benoît, but please feel free to call me Zoe.

Experience & Training

I hold a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Over 15 years of practice, I have worked with people across the lifespan through trauma, grief, loss, and now specialize in supporting women through the slow, sacred work of becoming.

My clinical foundation is deep and broad, rooted in a lifelong dedication to embodied and contemplative practice, including Authentic Movement, Five Rhythms, Buddhist and Insight Meditation, and the Diamond Approach. These embodied and spiritual practices have shaped how I meet clients with presence, curiosity, and openness.

My Toolbox

Many people think that the goal of spirituality is to get to the place where there is only light.

But that is not freedom.

Freedom is being able to stand in the pitch black and the blinding light with the same open heart.”
